El pasado sábado 8 de marzo, durante una exhibición en directo realizada en Minneapolis, Arcade Fire han incluido en el listado de las canciones ofrecidas al publico, también una versión de Prince (originario de la misma ciudad estadounidense, donde nación el 7 de junio de 1958). Se trata del single ‘Controversy’ que Butler y compañeros han tocado de forma realmente interesante y muy bien contextualizada:
‘Controversy’ es la canción que dio el titulo al cuarto disco solista de Prince, publicado en 1981 bajo el sello Warner. El tema es seguramente uno de los más famosos y respetados dentro de la producción funk del artista. Además la letra (que encontrarás más abajo) es el resultado de una irónica respuesta a los que, en los años Ochenta, atacaron Prince con especulaciones sobre su religión y su sexualidad.
Durante el concierto Win Butler se puso en la cabeza una caja representante una pantalla digital con el rostro de Prince y también lo de Michele Bachmann (política estadounidense famosa por sus declaraciones anti-gays y ex aspirante a candidata presidencial de 2012 por el Partido Republicano).
